California Dreaming
Growing up in Michigan, I had this California fantasy inspired by Baywatch, Beverly Hills Cop and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. It was all palm trees, convertibles and sunny days. This, of course, is not the reality (especially not in San Francisco). However, this California idealism still colors my mind as I take in the many splendors the great state has to offer. This is a mashup of two photos, capturing the palm trees of Venice Beach and shoes on a wire above a skatepark. The stark black silhouettes contrast a perfect California sunset that seems to linger longer than most.
